ABOUT SKOLA’S CLASSES
Abiding by the guidelines of the NSW Community Languages Schools Program, there are 8 lessons per term (2 hours 15 minutes duration). In Terms 1, 2 and 3, the ninth lesson is normally a cultural excursion where students and their families can participate in a traditional Maltese community event. Online K-12 classes run over 9 lessons per term to meet these guidelines. We aim to keep low student to teacher ratios to optimise the multilevel learning environment of our classes.
Students in Year 11 and 12 are welcome to join the High School Class or Adult class with parental permission
TEACHING AND LEARNING PROGRAM
Over the past 18 years, the teachers of Skola Maltija Sydney have collaboratively developed 12 primary and adult teaching and learning units. All are regularly refined and updated. Teaching and learning programs feature Maltese history, geography and culture. The primary program also includes games, songs and dance. Lessons cater for differentiated instruction to maximise each student’s growth and individual success.
This year, our units will continue to be updated in line with focus areas and outcomes from the new Modern Languages K-10 (2022) syllabus. Student progress reports will also reflect outcomes from the new syllabus.
